Effect of Pozzolana and Lime on Expansive Soil Properties

This study investigates the effect of pozzolana and quick lime as stabilizer materials on expansive soil properties. Disturbed sample was collected from Al-Qadarif city in east Sudan. The basic properties, swelling strength were measured. shows very weak high potential. Mineralogical analysis tests conducted to using XRD tests. contains significant amount montmorillonite mineral (86%). Laboratory undertaken stabilized with varying percentage only (0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30%) combination constant content (5%). Compaction, California Bearing Ratio (CBR), free swell, swell present pressure performed natural treated soil. obtained Jebal Meidob local kilns Kassala. results showed that treatment by reduced coupled increase strength. While use has marginal effective. It could be concluded stabilization pozzolana-lime admixture is successful.
